Niyati Vemuri, MA (she/her):  I am a doctoral-level clinician providing psychotherapy under licensed supervision while completing my Psy.D. in clinical psychology at Adler University. My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive. I believe everyone deserves a space where they feel fully accepted, respected, and understood, and I find it deeply meaningful to help create that space with my clients.

I enjoy working with children, adolescents, adults, older adults, LGBTQ+ individuals, and immigrant communities. My areas of interest include anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship concerns, trauma, grief, neurodivergence, perinatal mental health, chronic illness, and the well-being of primary caregivers. I approach these concerns with sensitivity to each client’s background, identities, and lived experiences.

I have experience working with people from a wide range of backgrounds and identities, including differences in age, race, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status. My clinical experience includes working at a community counseling center, where I supported adolescents navigating anxiety, depression, executive functioning challenges, autism, loss of a parent, abandonment, and complex trauma.

In a private practice setting, I have worked with individuals across the lifespan, offering support around ADHD, OCD, personality-related challenges, and other concerns that impact daily life and well-being.

I am also passionate about providing identity-affirming care and actively advocate for and support individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community, engaging in meaningful identity exploration and development as part of the therapeutic process.

I value meeting clients where they are and tailor therapy to each person’s unique needs and goals. My work draws from CBT, client-centered therapy, ACT, DBT, trauma-informed care, relational and systems perspectives, multicultural approaches, and mindfulness-based practices. I am also especially interested in integrating spirituality-based approaches into therapy when it is meaningful to clients, in ways that align with their values and preferences.

My clinical foundation was built in India, where I completed my master’s in Counseling Psychology and received specialized training in Eastern mind-body approaches rooted in spirituality. I bring a strong emphasis on the mind-body-spirit connection into my work and strive to integrate these perspectives in ways that align with each client’s values. I am multilingual and fluent in Telugu, Hindi, and English.

I view therapy as a collaborative process that honors both the challenges and resilience within the human experience, and I feel deeply committed to walking alongside clients as they move toward growth, meaning, and connection.

What do you like about being a therapist?

I enjoy being a therapist because I get to collaboratively create a space where clients feel accepted for who they are, have their experiences acknowledged, and are supported as they move toward growth. This work aligns deeply with my values of respect, equality, and acceptance. I also appreciate how therapy brings us face-to-face with the realities of the human experience, both the pain and the resilience that come with it. It reminds me that while suffering is a part of life, so is the capacity for meaning, connection, and change. We all deserve a space where we can be ourselves without judgment, and I find it deeply meaningful to help create that space for others. Witnessing resilience, healing, and self-discovery, and walking alongside clients in that process, is one of the most rewarding parts of the work.

What do you like to do when you are not working? What do you do for fun?

Outside of work, I enjoy exploring new cafes and trying different cuisines. I also like baking and experimenting with new recipes. I enjoy spending time at arcades playing games, as well as relaxing by the lake with a good book. I am also currently learning astrology and tarot card reading, which has been a fun and engaging personal interest.

What are you excited about? What is your passion? What do you want to learn more about?

I am excited about the opportunity to integrate spirituality-based techniques with traditional therapy in a way that is thoughtful, client-centered, and based on each person’s interests and needs. Coming from India, I have appreciated the value of Eastern approaches in supporting healing, and I have also completed courses in spiritual healing that have enriched my clinical work. I am especially interested in continuing to grow in couples therapy, as well as in working with single parents, perinatal and postpartum mental health, and primary caregivers of individuals living with cancer or other medical conditions. My passion lies in working with diverse clients across the lifespan and in creating a therapeutic space that is culturally responsive, affirming, and empowering. I am also deeply committed to supporting and advocating for immigrants and other marginalized communities.
