Healing Through Connection—With Ourselves, Each Other, and Our Community

Healing Through Connection—With Ourselves, Each Other, and Our Community

This blog is part of a three-part series by Dr. Bianka Hardin

“We can be imperfect together and still grow.”

Part 1 — Twelve Years of Change, Growth, and Gratitude

When I launched Centered Therapy Chicago in 2014, my vision was simple and profound: build a community of therapists who are relational, compassionate, trauma-informed, and deeply committed to high-quality care. Twelve years later, that vision remains our guiding light—even as the world has changed in ways we could never have imagined.

Our commitment to a relational, depth-oriented, and trauma-informed lens is both intentional and foundational. I’ve witnessed and personally experienced the profound transformation this approach can bring, and it shapes not only how I practice but how our entire team shows up for one another. We intentionally invite clinicians who share our belief in the extraordinary healing power of authentic human connection—because together, we’re creating a space where healing, growth, resilience, and connection flourish.

This lens is woven into everything we do: therapy, supervision, teaching, and how we relate to one another. We work with curiosity, self‑inquiry, and presence, honoring the humanity of every person we encounter. Rather than striving for performative perfectionism, which is often demanded by our culture and family systems, we embrace humility and the reality that we are all perfectly imperfect. We believe mistakes are not failures; they are invitations to learn, repair, and deepen connection. When the pressure to be perfect is removed, relationships become more authentic, liberating, and deeply healing.

“Healing happens in relationship—through presence, consent, and choice.”

Gratitude: To our clients, clinicians, practicum students, supervisors, partners, and community—you have shaped CTC into what it is today. Thank you for trusting us!

Reflection Questions

  1. What does meaningful connection to yourself and others look like for you—and what support might help you deepen that?
  2. What would you like for yourself in terms of your relationship with yourself and others? Could therapy be part of that vision?
  3. What comes up for you when you think about perfectionism and making mistakes? How might support help you navigate this with more ease?
  4. What would it be like for you to free yourself from pressure and perfectionism—and who could walk alongside you in that process?
  5. How do you want to support yourself in allowing more authenticity and grace in 2026? What steps could you take today?

If these questions sparked curiosity or a longing for more ease and authenticity, know that you don’t have to navigate this alone. Therapy can be a powerful way to explore these reflections, deepen your connection to yourself and others, and release the pressure of perfectionism.

At Centered Therapy Chicago, we’re here to support you in creating space for growth, grace, and healing. If you’re ready to take the next step—or simply want to learn more—reach out to us. Your journey toward greater self-support and authentic connection can start today.
