Post-Doctoral and Post-Master’s Fellowship Program

We have created the Fellowship Program because we value learning, training, and the importance of preparing newly graduated clinicians for the complexity of our work and field. We have noticed a trend in other practices hiring newly graduated clinicians and not providing the support they need to flourish, learn, and grow. There are often unrealistic clinical expectations of new graduates who are learning how to be a therapist, how to tend to themselves as they tend to others, and learning who they are as professionals. We believe lifelong learning and an emphasis on high quality supervision is essential for all clinicians. We aspire to create a unique experience where new graduates can really focus on deepening their learning and challenging themselves in an environment where vulnerability, humility, and deep self-inquiry are valued.

Our Fellowship program at Centered Therapy Chicago accepts graduates of Psy.D., Ph.D., or Master’s programs into our 12+ month full-time training experience. We have welcomed past fellows to join our staff once licensed.

We emphasize training in relational, feminist, trauma-informed and body-oriented approaches. The training program is designed to support postdocs in refining and deepening their clinical skills while also expanding their skillset by engaging in administrative, training, and supervisory responsibilities. For recent Master’s Level graduates, we provide an opportunity to focus on their development as a therapist without the pressure of quickly building a caseload and high productivity expectations. Instead, Post-Master’s Fellows can gradually build their caseload while receiving extensive training and support.

Our Fellows have the opportunity to be immersed in a supportive, nurturing, introspective, and intellectually challenging environment that provides an important foundation for their future professional life.

Our main training goal is to support the deepening of foundational skills while also fortifying Fellows’ capacity as to work as intentional, reflective, introspective, professional, and ethical licensed professionals.

Fellows are invited to participate in a variety of training, supervisory (for postdocs), and structured learning opportunities. All Fellows receive weekly relational supervision provided by Licensed Professionals (PsyD or LCPC), in order to ensure personal and professional growth as well as meet the supervision requirements need to attain licensure. Please note that CTC does not have a LCSW on the supervisory team.

Postdoctoral Fellows receive clinical training and supervision in accordance with the standards set forth by the American Psychological Association’s (APA) Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct.
